Top 10 tips for every bride
If there’s one thing we’re fully versed in at Swancar, it’s weddings. Weddings are busy and often stressful times for brides, so to help you along your way we’ve compiled our top ten tips every bride should know:
Top ten tips for brides:
With so much planning involved, the best way to start your planning is to make a list. Writing lists is a great way to get organised, and what better way to do it than with a brand new pretty notepad? A book binder would be ideal – it will be big enough to hold and secure important paperwork. Write down every single idea you have no matter how big or small, wild or obvious. Don’t forget colourful highlighters. Highlighters are a great way of putting your notes in order of importance.
- Key contacts
Staying with the list theme, take note of all the important contacts associated with your wedding. This could be the photographer, the florist or the caterers. Should you need to contact them you’ll have their details to hand.
- Wedding invite size
When it comes to creating your wedding invites make sure you understand the costings that come with P&P. To fit the bill for a standard letter cost, your invite mustn’t exceed 24cm in length, 16cm in width, 5mm in thickness or 100g in weight. Always check with your local service.
- Never underestimate table planning!
You should start organising your seating plan as soon as possible, even before you have all of your RSVPs back. With a three-course meal and speeches lasting around 2-3 hours, it’s important you get it right. Find a balance to ensure your guests are relaxed and have as much fun as possible.
- Save the date
Don’t forget to send out save the dates! We’d recommend magnets. They’re perfect for sticking onto the fridge and won’t get lost amongst piles of paperwork.
Do you want to go down the traditional route or create your own personalised vows? Vows are the most important part of the day, so shouldn’t be overlooked. Think about what is important to you and jot it down in the notepad (see point 1!)
- Bridesmaids dresses
If you’re going down the route of multiple bridemaids, ensure that when choosing bridesmaids’ dresses, you cater for all shapes and sizes. Allow them some individuality. Of course the big day is all about the bride, but keeping your core group harmonious is important.
- Think theme
Blue and white, gold and glitter, woodland or fairytale. A common theme running throughout your day gives your wedding that extra special something. Your chosen theme can extend to your wedding invites, favours and food, and if you’re super organised even your Save the Dates!
- The bridal overnight bag
This one may seem obvious but you’d be surprised how often it’s overlooked. Just as you would when you’re away for a weekend, pack a small suitcase. When you wake up in the morning after the night before, you’ll need a change of clothes unless you want to attend your wedding breakfast in your wedding dress!
- Relax and focus on what’s important
With so many things to think about and so many people to consider, it can be easy to side-line the most important factor in hand – love. Focus on that and relax and you’ll truly enjoy the day.
